Wednesday, May 23. Only 9 days to go until wheels up and we will be off to Germany to meet our new group of friends in Blieskastel. The students are starting to get excited and perhaps a bit nervous. My list of things to take care of before we leave seems to be getting longer but that's how it always goes at the end of the school year.
Over the weekend, the Bulldog Boosters were kind enough to open the Boutique just for us and let the GAPPies shop for some Bettendorf swag for their homestay partners. Others are shopping for Quad City souvenirs to take to their host families. I still need to do the same. As usual, I will probably procrastinate until next Wednesday night, when I get around to thinking about packing. Students, don't be like me!

Deutschland 2018! - Frau Steiner
In just a few weeks, we will be departing for our 39th year of GAPP with von der Leyen Gymnasium in Blieskastel, Saarland https://www.vdleyen.de/die-schule/schulprofil.html.
This is my 6th GAPP exchange as a coordinator and I am looking forward to showing a new group of students my second home, Deutschland. This year we will be changing things up a bit by going to our homestay first, then traveling at the end of our trip to Salzburg, Austria and München, Bayern. Students will experience different foods, a different school system, different ways of taking out the trash, the Deutsche Bahn, taking the subway , Frau's 30 Day Fitness Plan (there will be a LOT of walking and bike riding 😊 ), churches, museums, and the best of all, getting to meet new friends (hopefully lifelong ones).
We will be posting daily, when we get connected to WiFi, so you can keep up with our adventures in D-land.
