Saturday, June 16 - Caleb

Hello again, Caleb here.  Today my host family and I went on a trip to Heidelberg, a large city in southwestern Germany.  There we visited Heidelberg's castle and various shops in the old town.

The castle is a massive stone fortress set high up on a green hill and from it you have the perfect view of the entire city, which was very beautiful.  The architecture of the castle itself was very beautiful.  Unfortunately the only part of the castle open to the public was the wine cellar.  Throughout town there were various sculptures and fountains, and there are also 2 very large, very old churches in the city.

While we were there, we visited quite a few little touristy stands and shops.  We had lunch at a restaurant with an interesting fairy tale theme, which had an interior that looked like a forest.  After having burgers, we went to this really cool little record shop.  Overall it was very interesting to experience the city.
