Update from Frau S.: Tues June 12

Hello, Everyone!

Saarland and the Saar-Pfalz has been experiencing some severe weather the last few days and may have made the American news.  I want to reassure parents and our blog readers that Blieskastel and environs, where we are staying during our homestay,  were not as affected as some of the other parts of the region.   Areas north and west of us have been experiencing torrential rains and the Autobahn was closed for some of the afternoon due to water on the roadway.  Many town centers were also flooded and the fire departments are busy pumping out people's flooded basements (German homes are generally not equipped with sump pumps).

Although there were heavy rains Monday afternoon and also this morning (Tuesday), we are just damp around the edges.

Das Wetter macht muede!  (This kind of weather makes you tired).  For the rest of the week, we should have a friendlier weather forecast with some cooler days and hopefully some sun and less humidity.

Bis bald!

Frau S😊
